Automotive fuel cell
Bild Photo:A fuel cell stack for cars is pictured. The dimensions for approximately 40 l volume are approximately 1.0 m x 0.8 m x 0.35 m. A single hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell delivers approximately 1.23 volts. To achieve usable voltages of approximately 40 volts and power of approximately 50 kW, many of these individual cells must be assembled in a combination of series and parallel connections (“fuel cell stack”). The future of fuel cell vehicles is uncertain, since fuel cells and hydrogen tanks are quite expensive. In comparison, the prices for the batteries of pure electric cars are now falling relatively quickly.
